Attention Seeking

A thick, wavy orange line runs horizontally on a light background.

Attention Seeking When I was classroom teaching many years ago, I had a student who would not stop talking to me. She talked all day, everyday! I used to see this as attention seeking, or task avoidance but then I read a quote which said “attention seeking is connection seeking”. This changed my whole outlook. She didn’t crave attention, she was craving connection. Once I acknowledged what she was telling me, I gave her a little extra attention, then I told her to tell me more at recess time and I can’t wait to hear it.
